Widely recognized for his business litigation and trial successes, Mr. Friedman is one of fifteen or so litigators who serve as judicial appointees to the Advisory Committee to the New York County Commercial Division along with the ten judges of that court. Mr. Friedman and his colleagues work with clients to tailor business litigation strategies that fit their specific objectives. They recognize that, because of none of their clients are in the “business of litigation”, a winning strategy often does not mean “winning” at all costs. Sometimes the best approach is to try to negotiate a swift resolution to business disputes at the outset of, or in order to avoid, litigation. Mr. Friedman and his Of Counsel lawyers have taken cases to trial with excellent results when clients were not able to obtain satisfactory settlements or prevail on motion practice.
This track record of successful trials sets Mr. Friedman apart from many other current and former AMLAW 100 litigation partners since the overwhelming majority of business litigations are resolved before trial. He has represented clients in a wide range of business matters including contract and licensing agreement matters, partnership disputes, and real estate litigation.
